Prof Lucas Othuon

prof othuonProf. Lucas Othuon holds a B.Ed {Science) degree from the University of Nairobi, and MA and PhD degrees from the University of British Columbia. He is a specialist in Measurement, Evaluation and Research Methods. He has held key administrative responsibilities at Maseno University two of which are Chairman, Department of Educational Psychology and Dean, School of Education. Prof. Othuon has won several prestigious competitive research grants, one of which was from the Rockefeller Foundation. He is a prolific researcher and has successfully supervised quite a number of postgraduate students. He was a key member of the organizing committee of a successful international conference on mental health which took place in Kisumu, Kenya in 2018.

Dr. Benson Nyambega

He has a long-standing expertise in life science areas of biochemistry, molecular biology, molecular immunology, bioinformatics, functional genomics and reverse genetics. He is passionate about research resource mobilization and management, translational research, research integrity and ethics. He has been a fellow of the Poverty Related Disease College, European Molecular Biology Organization, Hitachi Life Sciences Research Laboratory and Tropical Disease Research of the World Health Organization. He has won prestigious grant awards in the areas of neglected tropical disease, human cancers and biofuels. He continues to serve as a Secretary of the Society for Biomedical Research - Kenya, and a member of the Biochemical Society of Kenya.

Dr. Catherine Mbagaya

dr magaya2.fwCatherine Mbagaya is an early career researcher from Maseno University, Kenya. She holds a PhD from Leiden University, the Netherlands and a Master of Education degree in Psychology from Maseno University. Since completing her PhD, Catherine has been teaching and mentoring Masters and PhD students at Maseno University. She teaches mainly Developmental Psychology, Psychopathology and Research Methods. Her research focus is in the area of parenting and early childhood development and education. She has published papers in her area of research and presented papers in international conferences. Currently, she is conducting research on learning and psychosocial outcomes of preschool children in Kisumu County, Kenya.

Dr. Robert Mule Earned his Doctor of Philosophy Degree in Business Administration (Finance) in 2015 at Maseno University, Kenya. He obtained Master of Administration Degree in (Finance) in 2005 at University of Nairobi, Kenya and Bachelor of Education (Arts) Degree specializing in teaching Economics and Business studies (Second Class Honors- upper Division at Maseno University, Kenya. Dr. Mule has more than fifteen (15) years of lecturing experience gained from public and private universities in Kenya. In addition, Dr. Mule is a consultant in project financial feasibility and financial modeling. His research interests include; sustainable health care financing, modeling Sustainable Development Goals for improved livelihoods, debt management strategies for improved water delivery in Low income areas and financial modeling for connecting water and sewer lines to low income groups. Dr. Mule has published 15 scholarly articles in peer reviewed international journals, participated in several local and international workshops and supervised more than 30 postgraduate students and currently writing finance and accounting for students in Universities and Colleges. He is currently conducting research studies to establish effective and efficient debt management strategies to improve water sales revenue performance among utilities in Kenya.

Mr. Samson N.O. Moracha

Has a wide experience in organizing Workshops and Conferences having worked as a Senior Administrator in the Division of Partnerships, Research and Innovations which is in charge of workshops and Conferences in the University and Maseno University Council Secretariat.

Prof. Ogendo Stephen

He is a graduate of the University of Nairobi with a primary degree, Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of surgery followed by a Master of Medicine in General surgery in 1987. This was followed by a three-year attachment for training in Cardiothoracic at Birmingham University Hospital, UK.

Over the years he has developed an interest in Medical Education and taken a Masters course in Medical Education.

Prof. Ogendo has been involved in various professional organisations and served as President or Chairman in all of them. These include Surgical Society of Kenya, Kenya Cardiac Society, College of Surgeons of East Central and Southern Africa as well as the Pan African Association of Surgeons.

Erick O. Ogello (PhD.)

Dr. Erick Ogello earned his Doctor of Philosophy Degree in Fisheries Science in 2017 at Nagasaki University Japan. He obtained Master of Science Degree in Aquaculture (Great Distinction) in 2013 at Ghent University, Belgium, and Bachelor of Science Degree in Fisheries (First Class Honors) at Moi University, Kenya. Dr. Ogello has previously worked as research scientist at Kenya Marine and Fisheries Research Institute (KMFRI) for 8 years, where he served as director of Kegati and Sangoro research centers, and was also a member of Kenya national Aquaculture Working Group (AWG) committee in 2010-2013 during Economic Stimulus Project (ESP). Dr. Ogello joined the School of Agriculture and Food Security, Department of Fisheries and Natural Resources, Maseno University in 2019. He has received two international scholarship awards i.e. VLIRUOS and MONBUKAGAKUSHO for his MSc. And PhD studies in Belgium and Japan, respectively. His research interests include; fisheries science, aquaculture, aquatic ecology and toxicology. Dr. Ogello has published 41 scholarly articles in peer reviewed international journals, and participated in several local and international conferences. He is currently conducting research studies to establish low-cost and efficient fish culture techniques to improve tropical aquaculture.

Dr. Own MCOnyngo

dr owen2.fwA Swahilist with a PhD in Kiswahili earned through research on Kiswahili short story. Has published short stories in several collections and edited an anthology, Mimba Ingali Mimba which is in its second edition. Is a lecturer who teaches both linguistics and literature in Kiswahili. Researches widely on African literature with a conviction that indigenizing literature goes beyond language and must be cognizant of other literary ingredients – authorship, genre, criticism among other identification criteria. Has been the linguist in projects funded by Rockefeller Foundation and Business Alliance Against Chronic Hunger(BAACH) and a consultant in translation and communication.

Dr. Jenniffer Vera Atieno

Jennifer Vera AtienoIs a trained Environmental Scientist with a bias towards Environmental Planning and Management. She holds a Bachelor of Environmental Studies (Science) from Kenyatta University; a Master of Science in Urban Environmental Planning and Management and PhD in Environmental Science both from Maseno University. Dr. Atieno is a NEMA licenced Associate Expert and a member of the Environment Institute of Kenya with Technical Expertise in Integrated Solid Waste Strategic Planning, Environment and Social Impact Assessment, Environmental Monitoring & Auditing and Development of Resettlement Action Plans. She has participated in successful projects including infrastructure (roads, and railway), housing & commercial developments and feasibility studies. Currently, she the Chair-person, Post-graduate committee, School of Environment and Earth Sciences, Maseno University.
